Jewels From the River: Rocket Vision

On March 20, 2009, my schedule was very busy, but I really wanted to spend some time with Jesus. Sitting in a quiet place with my journal, as I am accustomed to doing, I said, “I know I only have a short time, but I promise you I will focus and not be distracted from what you might show me today.” As soon as I said that this short, but profound vision unfolded.
The Lord was standing by the River waiting for me. He wrapped His arms around my shoulders and we went straight up into the sky like a rocket – though I did not feel any sudden start or stop. We went through what looked like a yellow, orange, and red ring around the earth’s atmosphere and suddenly we were in the darkness of outer space. I looked out and saw the stars like I have never seen them before. There were billions of them and they were so magnificently brilliant. I said to the Lord, “This is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen!” He smiled and then looked down toward earth. I was expecting to see it bright and beautiful like in NASA photographs from space (click for photo earthfromspace). Instead of the earth being bright and the sky being dark, as it is in this photograph, it was the other way around. The earth actually looked shrouded by a black sheet and the heavens were lit up.
The Lord spoke the Scripture in Isaiah 60:2 “Behold darkness covers the earth and gross darkness is over the people, but the Lord rises upon you and His glory appears over you.”
The vision faded but left a profound mark on me. I believe that this word and vision are related to what is happening in the world and more specifically in the Church. In Isaiah 60:1 it reads, “Arise, shine for your light has come and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.” I pray if this has convicted you, you will arise and shine like the stars and return to your 1st Love. If you are already allowing God’s light to shine upon you, please pray for the brethren who are not; read and ponder Eph 6:18. We have all fallen short of God’s glory.
